We are now over half way through the high school football season in the big states and that makes us sad. Some states are starting their state playoffs this week. There has even been 1 state title decided, in Alaska. Week 8 turned out to be an important one to the national title race. Mater Dei kept their hops in tact with a 10 point win over St. John Bosco. This game was about as biploar as we have ever see a game with 49 points being scored in the first half and only 3 in the second. Bosco kept it close throughout and the quarterback play was as to be expected. JT Daniels showed that he is a true dual threat QB no matter what the rankings services list him as. DJ Uiagalelei laid claim to the #1 spot in the 2020 QB class with a few big throws to keep the Braves in it. In the end Amon-Ra St. Brown was just too much. Bosco only drops a couple of spots to #8 after the loss.

The big upset of the week came from Georgia where Archer defeated Grayson 6-3 in a defensive battle. The loss drops Grayson to just outside of the rankings while Archer comes in at #25. Trying to figure out who the best team in Georgia is right now is very hard. Archer, Grayson and Lowndes are all right there. Like most years the GA AAAAAAA state playoffs should be fun to watch. We actually dropped Lowndes from this weeks rankings. It was not because they played bad in a win over Tift County. It is just that Pine-Richland out of Pennsylvania deserves to be ranked.

This week’s slate is highlighted by a couple of big games in Florida, DC and Ohio. In Miami #3 Central takes on Northwestern to see who can lay claim to being the king of the 305 for now. In Ohio #13 St. Xavier travels to Cleveland to take on a good St. Ignatius team that is coming off a shocking loss to Archbishop Moeller. In Washington DC #21 St. Johns will take on a suddenly struggling Dematha team. We even have a good national matchup this week as #2 IMG travels to Utah to take on East.
