This weekend was the best weekend of the year so far and it should only get better in the next couple of weeks. While there was only one upset, there were a number of close calls for some ranked teams. #4 Allen needed a late field goal and for QB Kyler Murray to once again do his best Jameis Winston 4th quarter impression to take down #25 Desoto. Desoto stays in the rankings for now because they gave Allen all they could handle and I’m not sure there are 25 better teams in the country. The true late game play of the week goes to #15 Mainland (FL) who needed a safety with 27 seconds left to beat Edgewater (FL). The Buccaneers were actually down 21-0 at halftime but like in state college team FSU they battled back for the late game win. Even with those two thrillers the game of the week was #18 Paramus Catholic taking down Don Bosco Prep for the second time this season. The Paladins needed a timely fumble and PI call to set up their late game winning touchdown. Centennial (CA) jumps into the rankings this week. While their are not any meetings between ranked teams this week there will be plenty of hot action including a battle of the two best teams in Mississippi, #20 Starkville and South Panola, and Hudson (OH) battling previously ranked St. Edward. Check back next week to see if we have any upsets that shake up the rankings.
