The last week of the regular season is in the books as California, Florida and Texas all start the playoffs this week. Unfortunately that means the end of the season is drawing near. the good news is that in the coming weeks we will see who truly are the best teams in the nation. There was on e ranked team that lost this week. Previous #3 Paramus Catholic (NJ) lost to a good St. Joseph Regional (NJ) team. Once again this year it means that none of the great teams from new Jersey will finish the year undefeated. The loss did drop the Paladins down to #20 but their resume is just too good to drop completely from the rankings. The most bizarre win of the week goes to new #15 IMG Academy (FL). The defeated Champagnat Catholic (FL) 48-8. That doesn’t sound too bad til you realize that the game ended with 6 minutes left in the first half when Champagnat Catholic walked off the filed and quit the game. Keep in mind that Champagnat is the defending Florida 2A state champions so it’s not like they were some slouch although they have had a very weird season where they have actually refused to play some of the good teams they were scheduled against. Unfortunately that is the last game of the season for an IMG that was really surging and hadn’t turn the ball over since the opening game of the season. There is not much on the slate for this week with early playoff games on the docket with the exception being in Ohio were #25 Hudson should be tested by St. Ignatius. Check back next week to see if we have any upsets that shake up the rankings.
