Sadly the high school football season is coming to an end. There are two more weekends in the season. #4 Allen (TX) won the game of the week by coming back from a 28-10 second half deficit to beat Skyline (TX). Allen did score a TD on their final 6 possessions to put the game away. The final score was not indicative of the closeness of the game as the Eagles did not take the lead until 6 minutes left to go in the game. Skyline had to play most of the game with their backup QB as senior starter KC Johnson went down in the second quarter with a broken thumb. Allen has shown to the high school version of this year’s FSU team. They have won 3 games by exactly 3 points and had a number of come from behind wins. They will get a chance to some the title run when they take on Cypress Ranch (TX) this week. Texas A&M QB commit Kyler Murray definitely has some Jameis Winston in him with the way he stays calm under pressure and refuses to lose. The California playoff will wrap up this weekend with the Open Division Bowl games. The game everyone will be watching is #2 De La Salle versus #12 Centennial. The Florida playoffs wrapped up this week #5 Miami Central and #9 St. Thomas Aquinas winning the title in their respective classes. A couple of Florida teams will play in the Burger King state champions bowl series to officially wrap up the season on Decemeber 27. Those matchups will be announced tomorrow. Only one team dropped from the rankings this week and that was #25 Pine-Richland (PA) who lost their state title game to St. Joseph’s Prep. Katy (TX) climbs in the rankings this week fresh off their 27-20 victory over Steele (TX). They will face #19 Cedar Hill this weekend for the Texas 6A D2 title. Check back next week to see if we have any upsets that shake up the rankings.
