What a week of high school football. There were plenty of upsets that really shook up the rankings this week. The biggest was #5 St. Joseph Regional falling victim to a down Don Bosco team. The upsets let Dwyer (FL), Brother Rice (MI), Archbishop Moeller (OH) and Central Catholic (PA get into the rankings. With state playoffs continuing there are sure to be more upsets this week.
1) Booker T. Washington(13-0) – Miami, FL – The Tornadoes advance to the Florida 4A title game after another dominating performance. The game against Cocoa was over after the first quarter when the score was 28-0. Treon Harris continues to dominate with another 6 TDs in the game. Only Bolles stands in the way of a national title.
2) Allen (13-0) – Allen, TX – Defeated The Woodlands 56-21. Face off against undefeated Westfield this week in the state quarterfinals.
3) Central (11-1) – Miami, FL – Absolutely destroyed previously unbeaten Heritage (Palm Bay 54-3.
4) Desoto (12-0) – Desoto, TX – Defeated a good Martin (Arlington) team 56-34. Trinity is on the schedule this week in a rematch of a game from earlier this year that the Eagles won 61-35
5) St. John Bosco (13-0) – Bellflower, CA – Continued rolling with a 56-14 victory over Alemany. Get a rematch with Mater Dei this week. The Braves have yet to score less that 50 in the playoffs.
6) Mountain Pointe (14-0) – Phoenix, AZ – Won the Arizona Division 1 state title by wining 2 games in 6 days. It started on Monday with a 27-9 win over Desert Ridge and ended on Saturday by Whipping Hamilton for the second time this year 42-19.
7) Northwestern (14-0) – Rock Hill, SC – Defeated North Augusta 49-21
8 ) Junipero Serra (13-0) – Gardena, CA – Defeated St Francis for the second time this year. This time was a little closer than expected, 22-14.
9) Katy (13-0) – Katy, TX Defeated Fort Bend Elkins 56-26. The Tigers have a good game with Manvel this week to show that they are truly a top 10 team.
10) De La Salle (12-0) – Concord, CA – Defeated Deer Valley 57-27
11) Bellevue (12-0) – Bellevue, WA – Defeated Shadle Park 66-0
12) Hoover (14-0) – Hoover, AL – Got another another close win, this time over Vestavia Hills 31-28. They get one more chance to make an good impression in the state title matchup with Auburn.
13) Salpointe Catholic (14-0) – Tucson, AZ – One upped Mountain Pointe by winning 2 games in 5 days to bring home the Arizona Division 2 state title. Defeated Deer Valley 55-7 on Monday and Chaparral 46-20 on Friday.
14) Mallard Creek (14-0) – Charlotte, NC – Defeated Northwest Guilford 56-13
15) Jenks (13-0) – Jenks, OK – Defeated Westmoore 46-14
16) Bishop Gorman (12-2) – Las Vegas, NV – Defeated Palo Verde 45-7. The Gaels face Reed in the Division 1 state title game.
17) St. Joseph’s Regional (9-1) – Montvale, NJ – Got stunned by Don Bosco 28-21. The resume is good enough that they don’t fall out of the rankings
18) Dematha (11-1) – Washington D.C. – Reenter the rankings after completing their season with a 31-10 win over St. John’s to bring home the WCAC title. Their only loss of the season was to #4 St. Joseph Regional
19) Blue Springs (14-0) – Blue Springs, MO – Won the Missouri Class 6 title by defeating Rock Bridge 35-14
20) Folsom (13-0) – Folsom, CA – Escaped with a 42-35 victory over Jesuit.
21) Edna Karr (12-1) – New Orleans, LA – Defeated Franklinton 26-0.
22) Dwyer (13-0) – Palm Beach Gardens, FL – Defeated St. Thomas Aquinas 35-28. Have a good matchup with undefeated East Lake in the Florida 7A semifinals this week.
23) Brother Rice (14-0) – Bloomfield Hills, MI – Capped off an undefeated season by bringing home a Michigan Division 2 title over Muskegon 38-21.
24) Archbishop Moeller (13-1) – Cincinnati, OH – Defeated previously undefeated Hilliard 13-11. Ranked this week as they face off against Mentor. The winner will be ranked at the end of the season, the loser will not.
25) Central Catholic (13-0) – Pittsburgh, PA – Defeated McDowell 48-7. Now face off against Lower Dauphin in the Pennsylvania 4A semifinals.
