Check out our predictions for week 3 of the high school football season. We have 2 games between ranked teams. The biggest disagreement this week came in the American Heritage vs Miami Northwestern game but we decided to go with the ranked team. We had the same disagreemtn last week in the Liberty vs Westlake game and going with the ranked team cost us.
#1 Bishop Gorman at #7 St. John Bosco – Bishop Gorman faces their 3rd ranked opponent in as many weeks. Right now the Gaels looks unstoppable especially in the 2nd half. Tate Martell is living up to all the hype. Biaggio Ali Walsh sat out last weeks game while nursing and ankle injury but figures to be a go in this huge matchup. St John Bosco is lead by one of the fastest players in the country in QB Re-al Mitchell. The Gaels have already faced two great QB’s and should be up for the challenge. A couple of years ago when these teams met Gorman jumped out early and held on to win 34-31. This game should be close at halftime but we aren’t betting against Gorman with the way they have been playing.
Bishop Gorman 34 – St. John Bosco 24
#22 St. John’s College at #21 St. Joseph Regional – After looking at this game closer we realized we probably have St. John’s too low in the rankings right now. Their transfers have led them to be much better than expected. The offense is explosive led by Kasim Hill and the defense led by Cam Spence has been stout. St. Joseph is the home team in this matchup which is the great equalizer. Their win over Serra (CA) doesn’t look as great as it did when it was first scheduled. The green Knights could win the game if they can keep it low scoring as they did against Serra but in the end Kasim Hill should be able to make enough plays for the Cadets to get another big win.
St. John’s College 24 – #21 St. Joseph Regional 17
Chandler at #17 Mountain Pointe – This game is a Thursday night treat for us. This a battle between the two best teams not only in the Phoenix are but all of Arizona. Chandler does have a loss on the season but that came on the road at Centennial (CA) and as we learned last week that is not a bad loss at all. The Wolves are led by 2019 QB Jacob Conover who is putting his name of the national recruiting map with his performances so far this year. Moutain Pointe is led by the two headed running attack of Gary Bragg and Rashie Hodge Jr. on offense and by the Pola-Mao on defense although Isaiah Pola-Mao is a two way threat in this one. Mountain Pointe is at home and had a bye week to prepare for this showdown. It should be a close game but the experience of the Pride should lead them to victory.
