#10 St. Thomas Aquinas at Flanagan
The defending 7A (St. Thomas Aquinas) will head to defending 8A champion Flanagan for what is sure to be a great game. St. Thomas could easily be undefeated and ranked #1 in our polls if not for two questionable end of the game play calls. Flanagan has one loss on the season and that was to a very good Oxbridge Academy team. STA has been a much better running team than passing team this year. Flanagan has a stout defense led by FSU commit Stanford Samuels. STA should be able to run the ball. If they keep it on the ground and Jake Allen doesn’t have costly interceptions like he has in the losses this year then they should win.
St. Thomas Aquinas 27 – Flanagan 21

Gonzaga at #17 St. John’s
The battle for DC will take place this Saturday in the annual rivalry game. Both teams have two losses on the year but St. John’s has played the much tougher schedule. Dematha has already wrapped up the WCAC regular season title but this game will be a good launching pad for the winner heading into the playoffs. SJC has the talent advantage in this game especially on the defensive side of the ball where they are loaded. Kasim Hill should be able to lead the Cadets to to more than 14 points which is the most St. John’s has scored in their losses. Tyree Randolph has had a great year but he might run into trouble with the stout Cadets defensive line. St. John’s is at home and they have the talent advantage which should be good enough for a double digin win.
St. John’s 24 – Gonzaga 13

Timpview at #23 East
This is only a 2nd round battle in the Utah 4A playoffs but its a game between two of the top teams in the state. These two played in last year’s title game with East bringing home the title. Part of the reason we wrote a breakdown for this game was to once again call attention to how absurd it is that East RB Jaylen Warren doesn’t have an FBS offer yet. He has run for an average 12.6 yard per carry, 220 yards and 2.5 touchdowns per game this year against good competition. A big part of his success is that the Leopards have one of the best offensive lines in the country. Timpview should be able to put up some points in this one but this East team is playing at a much higher level right not and should be able to move the ball at will.
East 38 – Timpview 24
