The Opening is the premier camp for recruiting prospects, and it becomes one of the best measurements for how well an athlete is progressing heading into their senior season. Roquan Smith was impressive in the 7-on-7 tournament, and Prep Force interviewed him recently to recap his visit.
Q: What was The Opening camp like?
A: “It was a lot of competition. It was about leadership and leading your team.”
Q: Who was the best player you went up against?
A: “There was a few that stood out. Everyone had something different that stood out.”
Q: What’s the best advice you received at the Opening?
A: “To stay grinding. Don’t let anything get you down and to stay humbled.”
Q: What kind of advice would you have for a rising junior that wants to make it to the Opening next year?
A: “I would just tell them to ball out junior year and do good at the NFTC camp. Also staying humble is the main thing because some guys get big-headed when they get invites.”
