Shea Patterson is one of the best quarterbacks in the nation, and Arizona should be very excited about holding a commitment from him for the class of 2016. The interesting thing is that he has been committed since December of 2012.
It’s tough for any school to hold a commitment that long, especially from a top player in the nation, but Patterson thinks Arizona is a good fit and says Rich Rodriguez was one of the first coaches to come after him.
He’s still committed to Rodriguez, but will also weigh his options along the way. “I’m still committed, but I’m keeping my eyes open”, Patterson said. “I’m going to take visits and make the best decision”.
LSU is one of the schools coming after Patterson, who plays his high school ball in Shreveport, Louisiana. “I’ve been talking to coach Cam Cameron a lot. I have built a good relationship with him”.
The schools that Patterson says he has had the most contact with (besides Arizona) are Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, and LSU.
Location is one of the factors that LSU fans are hoping matters to Patterson, and while he admits it would be nice to play at home, he says “it’s all about comfortability”. At the end of the day location isn’t going to be a major factor for the 2016 prospect, but finding a school he is most comfortable at will.
Patterson says that recruiting has begun to heat up, and it should only get more intense as more and more schools come after him. It will be interesting to watch if Rodriguez and company can keep Patterson’s commitment as top-notch programs continue to offer.
