There is a little game this week that you may have heard about. #1 Mater Dei travels to #2 St. John Bosco in a game that we have all been waiting for. The 2 teams split last year with the Monarchs wining the game that mattered most in the playoffs. The game will decide the Trinity League regular season title but the ultimate game will come when these two teams likely meet in the playoffs. That is the only thing that takes a little luster off this game but don’t tell that to the already sold out crowd. I am the only lone dog going with the Braves this week. It is solely due to the revenge factor. Mater Dei dashed the Braves perfect season last year and they should be super motivated in this one. Also in the Trinity league this week we have JSerra taking on Orange Lutheran in a game that will likely decide 4th place in the league.
The other big game this week and that comes to us from the WCAC where Dematha and Good Counsel square off. Both teams are coming off heartbreaking losses and will be looking for a win to stay in the WCAC regular season title race. South Florida brings us a couple of games with Miami Central headed to Chaminade-Madonna and Miami Palmetto heading to South Dade. The Rockets will be looking to keep momentum heading in the playoff while the Lions will carry the flag for 3A. The other game has big Florida 8A playoff implications with the winner likely getting the top seed in Region 4.
We do have one interesting out of state game this week when Clearwater Academy International head up to Tennessee to take on the top ranked team in the state McCallie. The Blue Tornado could do wonders not only for their national rankings hopes but for the entire Volunteer state with an impressive win. The experts on split on who will get the victory.
