It’s Week 14 and we have what is probably the de-facto National Title game this week. It’s the rematch of Trinity League powerhouses St. John Bosco and Mater Dei. The winner will be the 2018 CIF Southern Section Divison 1 champ and will likely have an Open Bowl game vs De La Salle. The two teams met last month and the game was not particularly close at 41-18. Mater Dei will have revenge on the mind as they look for back to back titles. The key will be whether their defensive backs which are considered the best in the nation can stop DJ Uiagalelei, who is considered by most the best QB in the nation regardless of class.

Elsewhere around the country we have a big rivalry rematch going down in South Florida where American Heritage and Cardinal Gibbons meet. The Chiefs won the first meeting 24-14. The experts are split on who will take the rematch. In Ohio Colerain faces off against last year’s champion Pickerington Central. The Cardinals will look to continue their impressive undefeated season. In Georgia there area couple of big quarterfinal games. Like in Ohio an undefeated team meets the defending state champion when Colquitt County and North Gwinnett meet. The Packers will be looking to avenge their 19-17 loss from last year’s state title game. Undefeated Hillgrove takes on Milton on the other side of the bracket.

We will know the best team in New Jersey and Tennessee after this weekend. Bergen Catholic and St. Joseph Regional meet for the New Jersey Non-Public Group 4 crown. The Crusaders won the earlier match 24-20. Brentwood Academy and Memphis University School face off for the Tennessee Division II Class AAA title. Rounding out the slate is a big game in New York for the Class AA title between New Rochelle and Aquinas Institute. Finally in Florida Lakeland and Plant meet in a huge 7A quarterfinal game.
