As many of you know the opening weekend of the college basketball season is where good teams get their feet wet by beating the living crap out of bad small teams. Thankfully with today being Veterans Day two good teams decided to play each other on a ship deck. That being said this weekends picks are a little light.

The Picks

UNC over Michigan State – While I think Michigan State could have a decent team this year I think it will take time. So unless UNC is shooting into the sun half of the game I don’t see this game being much problem for them.

Duke over Belmont (but barely) – I included this game as I think Belmont is going to give Duke a very good game and wouldn’t shock me if they won. Belmont brings back 6 out of their top 7 players from what was a good team last year. Duke lost a lot and even though they got the extra games over the summer in China, I think they could struggle early.

Loyola MD over Wake Forest – One of the games where the little guy beats the big guy. This wouldn’t be a huge surprise but any time a team from the MAAC beats a team from the ACC its an upset.
