Yesterday was the best day of high school basketball of the season thanks to the HoopHall Classic. We had a rematch of last years national championship game between Findlay Prep and Montverde Academy. The game played out in a similar fashion to last years game with Montverde building an early lead only to see it vanish. Last years game went to overtime with Nigel Williams-Goss hitting the game winner. This year he ended the game with a buzzer beater 3 to end it in regulation. In a game that could decide the National Champion it sure was another classic. Also at the HoopHall Whitney Young and Lone Peak continued their impressive seasons. Also this past week the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions was played and Paul VI brought home the crown by beating Montverde and St. Johns Bosco. I know they have a few more losses than expected but the wins over a healthy Oak Hill and Montverde earn the Panthers a spot in the rankings. While the holiday tournaments are now over we do have a couple of great games this week. The biggest being the battle for Chicago between Whitney Young and crosstown rival Simeon on Saturday. Desoto and South Grand Prairie square off for the third time this season on Friday night.
